About

I am Ye-Eun Jeong, a Ph.D. candidate in Korean linguistics at Yonsei University, currently based in Singapore and completing my dissertation. My work brings together word formation, lexical semantics, sociolexicology, and usage-based linguistics to understand how lexical patterns emerge from actual language use.Using corpus-based, quantitative, and experimental methods, I study how linguistic forms are shaped by cognitive, pragmatic, and social pressures. I have also worked with Google and Apple on localization and linguistic quality projects, which informs my broader interest in how language adapts across users, technologies, and communicative settings.

Publications

My research explores the Korean lexicon through the lens of usage-based linguistics, focusing on how lexical patterns emerge from the interaction of form, meaning, context, and use. I work primarily on word formation, lexical semantics, and sociolexicology, with an interest in the cognitive and pragmatic mechanisms that make novel lexical forms interpretable.I combine corpus-based, quantitative, and experimental methods, using Python and R for large-scale data handling, modeling, and analysis. Across my work, I ask how lexical forms move between individual creativity, social circulation, and broader linguistic structure. For collaborations or questions about my publications, feel free to contact me at [email protected] or use the form below.
